Tawes Garden Tour: Stevie Lyttle Memorial Pavilion

In 1973, Stevie Lyttle began sharing her many skills with the Tawes Garden. She was a woman with a vision of developing a handicapped accessible trail in Annapolis. As a past director of District II of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, she worked tirelessly with a committee composed of Department of Natural Resources and Department of General Services employees, and garden club members. For more than twenty years she helped in planning and developing the garden.

When Stevie Lyttle passed away in June of 1994, improvements were made in her honor at the center of the garden. This location created a secluded, shaded seating area. Four redwood benches were placed facing a brass sculpture of a swan. The words of her favorite poem the Mirror. Which speaks of a swan, are featured on a plaque.
