Hunting at Sandy Point State Park

Hunting at Sandy Point State Park, Severn Run Natural Environment Area, and Holly Beach Farm Natural Resource Management Area

All hunting areas require the Free Public Hunting Permit (available on COMPASS). All local, state, and federal laws apply. The Maryland Guide to Hunting and Trapping is available online here. Hunting access is permitted from 1.5 hours before sunrise until 1.5 hours after sunset, unless stated otherwise.

Sandy Point State Park Waterfowl Sites

  • Waterfowl hunting is allowed only at designated sites.
  • Two designated waterfowl sites are available for reservation.
  • Daily reservations are required and are made through the Myrtle Grove Wildlife Office by calling 301-743-5161 during office hours.
  • Waterfowl sites are open for the Third Split of Duck Season only. All open waterfowl seasons may be hunted that run concurrently with the Third Duck Split.
  • Both sites are in the Atlantic Population Zone for Canada Goose.
  • Both waterfowl sites are boat access only.

Sandy Point State Park Corcoran Environmental Study Area

  • Approximately 215 acres are open for hunting in the Corcoran Area of Sandy Point State Park.
  • Only deer archery hunting is permitted.
  • Daily reservations are required and are made through the Myrtle Grove Wildlife Office by calling 301-743-5161 during office hours.
  • Hunters must also sign-in on site.
  • Parking is only allowed in designated parking areas.
  • A maximum of 8 hunters are permitted each day.
  • Deer hunting is permitted from the Friday after Labor Day through the end of Primitive Season, Monday through Saturday.
  • The public land Big Game Check-in Code for Sandy Point SP is 429.

Severn Run Natural Environment Area

  • Approximately 490 acres are open for hunting at Severn Run NEA.
  • Only deer archery hunting is permitted.
  • Daily reservations are required and are made through the Myrtle Grove Wildlife Office by calling 301-743-5161 during office hours.
  • Hunters must also sign-in on site.
  • Parking is only allowed in designated parking areas.
  • A maximum of 18 hunters are permitted each day.
  • Deer hunting is permitted from the Friday after Labor Day through the end of Primitive Season, Monday through Saturday.
  • The public land Big Game Check-in Code for Severn Run NEA is 607.

Holly Beach Farm Natural Resource Management Area

Holly Beach Farm NRMA is not open for general visitation at this time. We are working on a management plan for the area that includes public access. A reservation is required to visit the property. This includes both hunting and scouting.

  • Approximately 293 acres are open for hunting at Holly Beach Farm NRMA.
  • Deer, squirrel, rabbit, dove, woodcock, and waterfowl hunting are permitted, with restrictions. Turkey hunting is not permitted.
  • Daily reservations are required and are made through the Myrtle Grove Wildlife Office by calling 301-743-5161 during office hours.
  • A gate code is needed to enter the property and will be given when making a reservation.
  • The property is divided into zones and will be restricted as follows:
    • From the Friday after Labor Day through the end of the January 2-Day Deer Firearms Season:
      • Zone 1: Limit 3 hunters per day. Archery only.
      • Zone 2: Limit 5 hunters per day. All legal weapons allowed.
      • Zone 3: Limit 2 hunters per day. All legal weapons allowed.
    • From the Monday after the January 2-Day Deer Firearms Season through the end of February:
      • Zone 1: Limit 3 hunters per day. Archery only.
      • Zone 2 and 3 Combined: Limit one group of up to 6 small game hunters.
    • Waterfowl Sites:
      • Waterfowl hunting is allowed only at designated sites.
      • Five designated waterfowl sites are available for reservation.
      • Waterfowl hunting will be permitted during all waterfowl seasons open from the 1st Split of Duck Season through the February Youth/Veteran/Military Hunt.
      • Site #5 has a location A and B. Hunters who reserve this site may hunt either location, but not both at the same time.
      • Sites are in the Atlantic Population Zone for Canada Goose.
    • Scouting:
      • Scouting is only allowed on Sundays with a reservation starting the Sunday after Labor Day through the end of February.
      • A maximum number of five scouting reservations will be available each Sunday.
  • The public land Big Game Check-in Code for Holly Beach Farm NRMA is 609.
