Queen Anne, MD 21657

Hours: Sunrise to Sunset

Tuckahoe Creek, a quiet country stream bordered for most of its length by wooded marshlands, runs through the length of the park. A 60-acre lake offers boating and fishing. The park has 20 miles of scenic hiking, biking and equestrian trails, flat water canoeing, hunting, picnicking, as well as a recycled tire playground for children.

Activities include day camps, canoe trips, Scales & Tales presentations and displays, and Challenge Course programs. Each weekend, Memorial Day through Labor Day, park staff offer a number of free family activities. Check out flyers posted throughout the park or call the park office for more details.

Accessible picnic areas, visitors' center, playgrounds, restrooms, campground facilities, and hunting areas are very popular. See Accessibility For All for more information.

ALERT: ALERT Due to Covid-19, all programs, events and group activities have been cancelled. The following facilities within the Tuckahoe State Park Complex are closed: Equestrian Center, campgrounds, playgrounds, picnic shelters, park offices, nature centers, lodges and disc golf courses. To adhere to social-distancing guidelines, portions of the Tuckahoe dam are now closed -- no access or fishing is allowed at this location.

The park remains open for passive recreational exercise activities such as hiking, bicycling, and paddling. Recreational fishing and boating is not allowed. Limited sustenance fishing and hunting will be permitted. Only individuals, immediate family members, and people who reside together should engage in outdoor activities — these groups should be limited to 10 people or fewer, and distance of at least six feet from others should be maintained.

In response to Governor Hogan's Stay at Home Order to address the global COVID-19 public health crisis, the Maryland Park Service has closed all State Park Disc Golf Courses until further notice. Disc golf often encourages participants to congregate in groups outside of their own families or households. Disc golf baskets also pose a potential contamination threat to golfers, as studies indicate that the COVID-19 virus can persist on surfaces such as metal and plastic for as many as 2-3 days.

2020 Adventure Camps and Activities

Featured Program: Healthy Parks Healthy People

"Healthy Parks Healthy People" is a program designed to encourage physical activity in the beautiful parks of western Maryland and Caroline County. Department staff encourage healthcare providers to give their patients a prescription to increase physical activity and take part in programs offered at nearby State parks. Partners also include local Health Departments.

All Healthy Parks Heathy People programs follow Caroline County school closures and delays. Since schools are closed through 4/27/2020 due to COVID-19, all HPHP programs for the remainder of April have been cancelled. We will advise about the status of May programs in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these circumstances.
