The Project Committee considers and makes recommendations on certain development projects in the Critical Area, proposed by a State or Local Agency. Those recommendations are brought to the full Critical Area Commission for final review and approval. To determine if your project is required to be reviewed, we recommend that you contact Commission staff​.

All Project Committee Meetings are virtual and begin at 9:30​ a.m. on the date shown.

Meetings will cover projects that fall under one of two categories. In the first category, the Project Committee considers projects for discussion to provide an opportunity for an applicant to receive preliminary feedback. Applications that have significant impacts on the Critical Area, or that will require Conditional Approval under COMAR 27.02.06, are strongly encouraged to request a pre-application meeting with the Committee. ​Those projects that are submitted in accordance with the pre-application form and by the deadlines noted below will be discussed.

The second category of projects are formal submissions requesting approval from the Critical Area Commission. Those applicants will have provided a complete submission in accordance with the Formal Project Committee Application and Checklist and will have met all public notice requirements​ by the below deadlines. Projects under this category of review will receive an official vote by the Project Committee and will later be heard by the entire Critical Area Commission at its next scheduled meeting for final vote. Therefore, it would not be unusual for a project to come to the Project Committee twice, once for preliminary feedback and again for an official vote, before going to the full Commission for approval.
