Due to potential thunderstorms in the weather forecast for Saturday, June 7th, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have decided to postpone Snakes on the Dundee IV at Gunpowder State Park until Saturday, June 14, 2025. Note that June 14 is also a Free Fishing Day in Maryland. If you are fishing, you will not need to have a current Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport Fishing license. For information regarding licensing and fishing regulations, please visit dnr.maryland.gov.

Snakes on the Dundee IV, is a free-to-enter public outreach and fishing derby event to educate on and encourage harvest of invasive fish species introduced into Maryland waters, causing harm to some of its ecosystems.
Public outreach activities include:
- seeing and talking about aquatic nuisance species.
- making fish prints of invasives and other fish to learn more about their body form.
- learning how to bowfish with Captain Bill Bates, Southern MD Bowfishing.
hearing more about how to fish using hook-and-line with Lena Sawyers (Maryland Department of Natural Resources).
learning how to fillet an invasive to eat by Branson Williams (Maryland Department of Natural Resources).

Please Remember to get your free raffle ticket at Check-in. Each registered person can receive a raffle ticket for a prize. Prizes for the fishing derby will be announced closer to the event.
