Go Fish Maryland is a statewide fishing education program led by the Freshwater Fisheries staff of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Through education, engagement, and partnership, Go Fish Maryland aims to build lifelong anglers while fostering conservation-minded connections to Maryland’s natural resources. From beginner-friendly fishing skills to advanced, species-specific programs, Go Fish Maryland brings hands-on fishing experiences to communities across the state while inspiring ethical angling, outdoor adventure, and conservation stewardship.

Interested in starting an afterschool fishing club at your school?

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Freshwater Fisheries staff are looking to partner with middle and high schools throughout the state to support new or existing fishing clubs. Basic fishing rods and tackle are provided, along with optional lessons in casting, knot tying, safety, ethics, conservation, and more. No fishing experience required - just a willingness to learn and have fun outdoors!

Fishing is a fantastic way to connect youth to nature and outdoor recreation. Maryland's youth are the future stewards for conservation of our natural resources, and hands-on experiences play a vital role in fostering a lifelong connection to nature.
