Interested in starting an afterschool fishing club at your school?

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Freshwater Fisheries staff are looking to partner with middle and high schools throughout the state to support new or existing fishing clubs!

This program supports the establishment of afterschool fishing clubs in Maryland schools to promote ethical angling, conservation and stewardship among Maryland's youth. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will use a "Train the Trainer” approach to provide Fishing Club Training for participants and club leads, teaching them how to effectively manage an afterschool fishing club. DNR staff will be present during the club’s first session and will teach participants fishing skills such as knot tying, casting and fish identification. The club will then be eligible to borrow fishing equipment via our Tackle Loaner Program.
