Potomac River Overlook and Trail
The Potomac River Overlook and Trail (PROT) is accessible by a 1.2 mile return trail with a Moderately Strenuous rating. There is no handicapped access to the overlook. There is also no water. Please keep in mind Maryland State Parks are trash free. Please be prepared to remove trash with you when you hike back to your vehicle.
Point Kilo Monument
Point Kilo Monument honors Maryland Army National Guardsman Command Sergeant Major Roger W. Haller, who was killed in action on Jan. 20, 2007, in Iraq. He was assigned to the 70th Regiment, Regional Training Institute, Maryland Army National Guard, Reisterstown, Md.
Haller was the top-ranked enlisted man in the Guard’s Headquarters 70th Regiment (Leader), a leadership training unit. He was commandant of the noncommissioned officers’ academy, which trains Soldiers in a variety of disciplines, including ethics, personnel management and military history. The Potomac River Overlook area was chosen for his memorial because it was his favorite places to train his guardsmen.
