Camping​

Camper registration is located at the Shad Landing camp store. Pocomoke River State Park has 175 campsites. All campsites are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Centrally located bathhouses have hot water showers and flush toilets. Various camping units are welcome. Electric hookups are available in the Acorn Trail, Deer Run and Robin's Nest Loops. Pets are permitted for overnight stays only in the Acorn Trail and Water's Edge Loops. Sites are limited to six persons per site and all camping units must fit on the camping pad and driveway. A dump station is available for sewage and potable water. Campsites are limited to two vehicles per site. Additional parking is available at parking lots located at the marina. All vehicles must be registered for overnights stays.

Camping at Shad Landing

Camper Registration is located at the Shad Landing Camp Store. Pocomoke River State Park has 175 campsites. The camp loops at Acorn Trail, Robins Nest and Waters Edge remain open for winter camping. All campsites are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Centrally located washhouses have hot water showers, flush toilets and a laundry tub. Some campsites have electric hookups. Pets are allowed in Acorn Trail, Deer Run, Fox Den and Waters Edge. Sites are limited to six persons per site and all camping units must fit on the camping​ pad and driveway. A dumping station is available for sewage and potable water. Most campsites can accommodate two vehicles. All vehicles must be parked completely on paved or gravel surfaces only (not on the grass). Additional parking is available in Day Use parking lots with an overnight permit. All vehicles must be registered for overnights stays.

Camping at Milburn Landing

Milburn Landing is operated remotely from Shad Landing. Campers must self register at the office upon arrival. Milburn Landing has 32 campsites, some with electricity. Amenities are limited at Milburn Landing and pets are allowed in the campground. All campsites are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The bathhouse offers hot water showers and flush toilets. A dump station is available for sewage and potable water. The Milburn Landing campground is open seasonally from early-April to late-December. Sites are limited to six persons per site and all camping units must fit on the camping pad and driveway. Camping at Mattaponi Ponds Camping Area

The Mattaponi Ponds camping area is managed by Pocomoke River State Park and is located 2.5 miles south of the Shad Landing Area in the Pocomoke State Forest, featuring 3 backcountry campsites and a youth group site. These sites sit along the Blades Loop Trail of the Hudson-Tarr Tract Trail and offer a scenic view of the Mattaponi Ponds, as well as nearby access to the Mattaponi soft launch along the Pocomoke River. These sites are recommended only for experienced campers and do not offer services, drinking water, nearby parking or restroom facilities, with occupants expected to follow Leave No Trace ethics. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Please be prepared to hike with your gear to your site. Reservations and registration for these sites are handled exclusively at the Shad Landing Area and can be made by phone at 410-632-2566.

Mini Cabins

One-room cabins sleep up to four people with one double bed and one set of bunk beds OR two sets of bunk beds. Two-room cabins sleep up to six people, with one double bed and two sets of bunk beds. Each cabin is equipped with a ceiling fan, an air conditioning unit, a small heating unit, an overhead light, electrical outlets, indoor table and chairs, an open air porch, picnic table, lantern stand and a fire ring/grill.​

Linens, blankets and pillows are NOT provided. A bathhouse is located centrally within the camping loop and is equipped with hot water showers/sinks and flush toilets.

Youth Group Camping

Shad Landing and Milburn Landing each feature two youth group camping sites. These primitive sites are available to groups as large as 40. The Shad Landing site is equipped with pit toilets. The Milburn Site utilizes the campground bathhouse or day-use comfort station.

Mattaponi Ponds camping area in the Pocomoke State Forest also features a youth group camping site. This backcountry site is available for groups as large as 40. This site is recommended only for experienced campers and does not offer services, drinking water, nearby parking or restroom facilities with occupants expected to follow Leave No Trace ethics. Please be prepared to hike with your gear to your site. Reservations and registration of this site can be made exclusively at the Shad Landing Area by calling 410-632-2566.

A valid Maryland DNR Youth Group Pass is required to reserve a designated youth group camping area.

Group Camping

Group sites are located within the Blue Heron camp loop. Sites are equipped with a large fire ring, benches, picnic tables, hammock stands and group grill. Occupants must park in designated parking areas. Two sites are designed to accommodate 40 people and one site accommodates 20.​
