Sustainable Forest Management Plan
Potomac-Garrett State Forest is managed under a Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFMP) developed through an interdisciplinary planning process with public participation and stakeholder review. The plan is open to continual updates as additional resource information becomes available. Revisions are reviewed by the Interdisciplinary Team and Citizens Advisory Committee.

Annual Work Plans
Annual Work Plans (AWPs) detail all projects scheduled for the fiscal year across five management categories: Forest Economy, Forest Conservation, Water Quality, Wildlife Habitat, and Recreation and Cultural Heritage. AWPs are formulated a year in advance and are developed to meet the land management guidelines and objectives established in the SFMP.
Forest Certification
Potomac-Garrett State Forest is certified under both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC® C016194) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®-00050) standards. Certification is verified through independent third-party audits conducted annually.
