Shad can be caught at Gunpowder Falls State Park, between U.S. Route 40 and Maryland Route 7.
Shad can be caught at the North East Creek at Herring Snatchers Park, located on North Main Street (MD-272) north of the North East Creek.
Shad can be caught on the Patuxent River at the Queen Anne Bridge Fishing Area, located at the end of Queen Anne Bridge Road in the town of Glenarden.
Shad can be caught on the Choptank River in Greensboro at the Greensboro Boat Ramp and slightly further up river off of Red Bridges Road.
Shad can be caught at several locations in the Susquehanna River. Popular locations include Conowingo's Fisherman's Park at Conowingo Dam, Octoraro Creek at the Octoraro Fishing Park, the main stem of the river at the Lapidum Boat Ramp, and at Deer Creek at the Deer Creek Trestle Bridge, the Stafford Flint Furnace, and a half a mile upstream from there off of Craigs Corner Road.
