Free Training for New Boaters May 12 & 13

The Department of Natural Resources is teaming up with the Marine Trades Association of Maryland, the Annapolis School of Seamanship and the Boat U.S. Foundation to offer clinics for new or returning boaters to learn how to properly launch, retrieve/load, and dock their boat.

Welcome to Boating clinics will be held May 12th and 13th at Sandy Point State Park boat ramps. The instruction on docking, launching and safety, taught by Annapolis School of Seamanship and Boat US Foundation, will run for 2 hours and 15 minutes, beginning at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm each day, weather permitting. Watch a video from last year's event HERE.

In addition to the docking, launching and safety demonstrations, boaters can talk to experts on a variety of topics including: Flares and other Safety items, Towing and Anchoring, Clean Boating practices to protect our waters, and Fishing and Conservation.

The event is FREE and open to the public; however, we ask that you PLEASE REGISTER. *Attendees will need to pay the park entrance fee.*

Do not bring a boat. All demonstrations will be done on Annapolis School of Seamanship boats. This event is most appropriate for adults and children over 14.
