Size:
2¾ - 4 in; Record - 4⅜ in.

Appearance:
  • Small salamander with rounded tail that lacks a keel.
  • Back is striped with a line of darker spots down the middle that are often chevron shaped.

Habitat:

  • Under rocks, logs in and near small streams on the Allegheny Plateau.
  • Sometimes found in sandstone cliff crevices far from water.
