Turning data into action for a resilient Maryland
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is a state leader in capturing the complex and dynamic details of the relationship between climate and Maryland’s ecosystems, using cutting-edge geospatial data, tools, webmapping platforms, and analyses. From the individual site to the watershed scale, DNR’s suite of geospatial resources allow users of all levels to turn data into knowledge that can be applied to planning, decision making, resource management, policy development, education, and more.
Maryland offers a wide range of interactive maps, data, and educational resources to help communities, planners, and residents prepare for climate change. Maryland also looks to
federal data to inform local planning. These tools support decision making across four key areas—Coastal Resilience, Environmental Resilience, Restoration and Land Use Planning, and Climate Education—making it easier to protect ecosystems, strengthen communities, and plan for a more resilient future.
