  • Assateague State Park
    Spring Pollinator Festival

    Celebrate Earth Day and the Spring Pollinator Festival at Assateague State Park Marina! Join us for gardening, a walking tour and some socially distanced crafts!     Earth Day: Plogging
    April 19-25, Anytime from Sunrise to Sunset
    A combination of jogging with picking up litter. Jog or stroll the picnic areas and trails while helping beautify the park! Trash bags and gloves can be picked up at the park office all week long. There will also be a trash weigh-in competition so be sure to step on the scale and record your findings.

    Tree planting appointments are available -- call to reserve your spot! Trees and shovels provided; please dress for the weather and bring gloves and a water bottle. Calling all volunteers!   • Pocomoke River State Park - Milburn Landing
    Earth Day: Shoreline Clean-Up & Guided Hike
    April 22
    10 a.m. -1 p.m.
    Staff will be working with volunteers and school groups to clean up the shoreline along the Pocomoke River in the Milburn Landing Area. Meet in the Day-Use parking lot. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. Rubber boots may be useful. At the conclusion of the Clean-Up, Park Ranger will lead a guided hike on the Bald Cypress Trail. Volunteers are welcomed.     The NEW Smallwood State Park- Sweden Point Osprey Camera will go LIVE on Earth Day at 1pm! You can tune in from the Smallwood State Park Website to see what these ospreys are doing all spring long! Check back often to see if there are eggs, chicks or nestlings! This project was made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Southern Maryland Audubon Society

    The City Nature Challenge is a friendly competition among cities around the world. Participants use the iNaturalist app to record species found April 30th through May 3rd. Park Rangers will be available to help visitors learn to use iNaturalist to log and identify species found in the park. No experience is needed. Parkwide!
