  • The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Solomons Flotilla will present the popular Suddenly in Command! course on Saturday 16 May 2026 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Spring Cove marina, Solomons MD.
    What if you are SUDDENLY IN COMMAND! Imagine being out on the water when the skipper suddenly becomes ill or falls overboard. Knowing exactly what to do in those first few minutes is critical. The USCG Auxiliary Suddenly in Command! course is designed specifically for boat passengers who never expected to be at the helm. In this focused classroom session, students move from uncertainty to preparedness. By analyzing real-life emergencies, the course demonstrates effective responses versus common mistakes. Participants will gain: An 8-Step Response Plan: A clear roadmap for managing any crisis. Emergency Essentials: Procedures to stabilize the vessel and summon help quickly. The Big Four: Strategies for handling man overboard, collisions, fire, and grounding. Reference Materials: Checklists and handouts to keep on board for instant access. Don’t wait for an emergency to realize the importance of these skills. Join this session to learn how to take charge when it matters most!

  • ​Queen Anne's County Parks and Recreation Boating Safety​ Courses  ​
    Learn boating skills IN THE CLASSROOM with a skilled instructor from the USCG Auxiliary Easton Flotilla and earn your Certificate of Boating Safety from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Topics that will be covered include Introduction to Boating, Boating Law, Safety Equipment, Safe Operation and Navigation, Boating Emergencies, Trailering, and much more. This course meets the Maryland Boating Safety Education Act requirement needed and is necessary for persons born on or after July 1, 1972, to operate a motorized vessel on Maryland waters.
