Boating Safety

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Thank you for your interest in classroom instruction for Maryland’s Safe Boating Course. Please continue to check these listings during the year as many of our instructors are still very cautious and concerned about COVID-19 so, these classroom courses may be very limited until instructors feel that in-person instruction is safe to implement.​​


  • MD Safe Boating Course - ​USCGAux Flotilla 24-08

    Successful completion of the sessions and passing the test will earn a NASBLA certificate to operate a boat with a motor in Maryland. This class is free to Auxiliarists, BSA Scouts, Sea Scouts and Scout leaders. This course or a similar course is also required to earn BQ status in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

  • Virtual Boating Safety Course conducted by USCG Auxiliary on August 20-21, 2022. Saturday 1-5 pm and Sunday 1-5 pm. Attendance at both sessions required. Class size will be limited to the first 30 registered and paid students.

  • Get your Maryland Boating Certificate​ – October 11, 13, 18, and 20 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 7 PM to 9 PM each night. America’s Boating Club Rockville™ is presenting the official Maryland Safe Boating Course online on October 11, 13, 18, and 20 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 7 PM to 9 PM each night. This state approved 8 hour course fulfills all legal requirements, provides you with a solid foundation for boating, and gives you a Maryland Boating Certificate which you need to legally operate a boat. This is an instructor led course, so you get the benefits of knowledgeable boating educators, the convenience and safety of learning online from home, and an interactive environment to help you learn better, faster, and more effectively. The class is presented via Zoom and costs only $10.00. NOTE: Attending all four online sessions is required. The online test can be taken at your convenience.   • Winterization Seminar, October 18, 7:00-9:00 PM via Zoom. Contact Patti Eney (773-351-2403, abckn.edu@gmail.com​). This seminar is sponsored by America's Boating Club Kent Narrows. There is no cost for the seminar.
