The lottery entry deadline is Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:59 pm. The drawing for the lottery will occur on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

The MD Forest Service will contact the winners by phone or e-mail within 2 business days of the drawing. If you decline the tract that you won it will be awarded to another lottery participant.​

If your name is drawn, state forest staff will notify you and confirm your acceptance of the tract. The lease will be mailed to the address of record. It must be signed and notarized and returned to the state forest office with payment. Payment is due at the time of the lease signing and proof of insurance is required before you begin hunting.
