Hikers, joggers, bicyclists, horseback riders and pets on leashes are welcome. The Maryland Park Service does not rent horses and only provides the trails as a means of recreation. The Torrey C. Brown Trail is ADA accessible. For additional accessible amenities in Maryland State Parks, visit the Accessibility For All section of this website.

Class 1 Electric Bicycles - Class 1 electric bicycles are permitted on the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail. They are regulated the same as all other bicycles, and are subject to all applicable bicycle rules and regulations regarding operation and safety equipment. Click here for information regarding the Electric Bicycle Policy.

Attention Tubers:  Many sections of the Upper Gunpowder which are accessible from state park property flow through private property. Please be considerate of our neighbors and remain in the river until you reach a road crossing. Do your part to help keep the river clean and enjoyable for tubers and neighbors alike by not littering or trespassing on private property. Remember, Leave No Trace!
