Bordering both the Big and Little Gunpowder Falls to their confluence at Days Cove, the Central Area features many miles of multi-use trails and opportunities for fishing as well as the historic milling village of Jerusalem Mill, which also serves as headquarters for Gunpowder Falls State Park.

Parking Lot along US 1 at the Big Gunpowder Falls is closed until Late Fall 2020.

Due to bridge construction, the Big Gunpowder Falls parking lot along northbound US 1 is closed for the remainder of the project, which is expected to be completed in the fall of 2020.

Additionally, due to safety concerns along US 1 (Belair Road) near the Big Gunpowder Falls, parking is prohibited along Belair Road near the park entrance. The State Highway Administration has posted “No Parking” signs along US 1 between Miller Road and Mt. Vista Road.

The parking lot closure will alleviate safety concerns due to the bridge construction activity. The project also closes the Belair Road tunnel and bridge walkways along the Big Gunpowder Falls. For more information, please click here.

Alternative water access can be found by visiting our Hammerman Area for swimming and Dundee Creek for canoe and kayak launching.

Near by trail access can be located further north along Belair Road near the Little Gunpowder Falls or by parking at the historic Jerusalem Mill Village. For other trail access, please click here.
