Rocks State Park – Deer Creek Area (Route 24 Area)

Location

The Deer Creek Area of Rocks State Park is located off Route 24 near Jarrettsville, Maryland in Harford County. Deer Creek forms the southern border. The hunting area encompasses approximately 120 acres.

Seasons Open

The Deer Creek Area is open for deer archery hunting only. Be sure to consult your Maryland Guide to Hunting and Trapping for season dates and bag limits. Hunting is allowed Monday through Saturday. No hunting is allowed on Sundays.

Hunting Devices Allowed

    • ​Only archery equipment is allowed.

Permits and Regulations

    • A Free Public Hunting Permit is required and may be obtained online through COMPASS or anywhere Maryland hunting licenses are sold.
    • 15 hunters per day for the Deer Creek Area.
    • ​Hunters must sign in and sign out at the parking area using their DNR ID.
    • Hunters must park in the designated parking area.
    • Hunters may enter the park no earlier than 1.5 hours before sunrise and must be out no later than 1.5 hours after sunset.
    • Hunters must contact Natural Resources Police at 410-260-8888 before tracking a wounded deer after hours, off State Park property, or outside of the designated hunting area.
    • The use of patented tree stands is recommended, especially near trails. All tree stands must be removed at the end of each day.​
    • Free Public Hunting Permit must displayed on the dash of your vehicle while hunting.

Rocks State Park – Cameron Area

Location

The Cameron Area of Rocks State Park is located off Falling Branch Road near Pylesville, Maryland in Harford County. Falling Branch runs through the property. The hunting area encompasses approximately 105 acres.

Seasons Open

The Cameron Area is open for deer archery hunting only. Be sure to consult your Maryland Guide to Hunting and Trapping for season dates and bag limits. Hunting is allowed Monday through Saturday. No hunting is allowed on Sundays.

Hunting Devices Allowed
