Susquehanna River Islands

Robert, Wood, and Snake Islands

Located in the waters of the Susquehanna River between Susquehanna State Park and Cecil County are Robert, Wood, and Snake islands. These islands are rich with history of the Susquehanna River.

Although Camping, Alcohol, and Fires are prohibited, visitors can still enjoy exploring the historic islands that once supported the Port Deposit Bridge (also known as the Susquehanna River Bridge or Rock Run Toll Bridge) from sunrise to sunset. The islands also serve as refuge for numerous nesting birds and turtles and should be avoided during nesting and hatching seasons to avoid disturbing wildlife during these sensitive times.

In addition, during waterfowl hunting season, Susquehanna State Park maintains waterfowl blind site markers at several locations around the islands.

A Free Public Hunting Permit is required and available online through COMPASS or anywhere Maryland hunting licenses are sold.

Reservations are required and can be made through the Gwynnbrook Wildlife Office at 410-356-9272.

All waterfowl sites are water access only.
