Greenspace Equity Advisory Board

The Greenspace Equity Advisory Board was established in legislation to serve as a consultant to the Department in the implementation and administration of the program. The Board is to consist of the following members: (1) one member of the Senate; (2) one member of the House of Delegates; (3) the following members appointed by the Governor:

  1. One representative of a County Department of Parks and Recreation;
  2. One representative of a Municipal Department of Parks and Recreation;
  3. One representative of the Maryland Environmental Trust;
  4. One representative of a land trust working in an overburdened community or an underserved community; and
  5. Five (5) representatives who are residents of an overburdened community or an underserved community and reflect the diversity of the state.

The board members shall serve a term of 4 years. The Department will consult with the board in the implementation and administration of the program, including: developing a grant application; establishing opportunities for members of the board to use their respective networks and publications to publicize and educate the public about the program, and the review of and comment on grant applications.

Pursuant to the Open Meetings Act, the Greenspace Equity Advisory Board meeting is open to the public; however, part of the meeting may be conducted in closed session pursuant to § 3-305(b)(3). During the open portion of the meeting, when invited by the Chair to participate, the public may comment on the discussion.
