The Cedarville State Forest (CVSF) consists of over 3,800 acres of land, with approximately 3,700 acres being wooded. One third of the forest is in Prince George’s County and the remaining two-thirds in Charles County.

​​​Cedarville State Forest is characterized by large areas of mixed hardwood, bottomland hardwood, loblolly pine & Virginia pine. The headwaters of the Zekiah Swamp in Charles County are located within the forest. Due to its close proximity to the southern suburbs of Washington D.C., Cedarville State Forest is a highly used recreation area, offering trails, camping, hunting and fishing opportunities. Cedarville State Forest is co-managed by the Maryland Forest Service, which manages the timber resources, and the Maryland Park Service, which manages the recreational and hunting resources.
