Location

Salem State Forest is comprised of two tracts. The main tract of Salem State Forest is accessible off Indian Bridge Road, one half mile south of St. Andrews Church Road in St. Mary’s County, directly North of St. Mary’s Lake. This property adjoins St. Mary’s River State Park to the South and adjoins Maryland Route 5 in Redgate across from Chestnut Hills Subdivision to the west.

Tract 2 is located on the north and south sides of Wilderness Road and bordered by Whirlwind Road to the south and the La Grande RV trailer park to the north.

There are two public parking areas for Salem State Forest. A parking area is located off Indian Bridge Road and off Maryland Route 5 in Redgate with a kiosk and map of the roads and trails. Access to the property is by foot travel only.​
