Eden Mill Eel Ladder

Eden Mill

Maryland DNR is working with Harford County and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to construct an eel ladder at the Eden Mill Dam on Deer Creek. Using sections of repurposed eel ladder and funding from BGE and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundations, this ladder will open over 100 additional miles of Deer Creek to American eels and serve as a hands-on community outreach tool to educate the public about the importance of fish passages. American eel serve as an important link in the life cycle of freshwater mussels which help to filter water (much like oysters). The project should be completed and operational in 2025.
