Our Mission: The mission of the Maryland Park Service is to manage the natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources to provide for wise stewardship and enjoyment by people.

The Maryland Park Service is dedicated to providing affordable outdoor recreation and educational opportunities in diverse landscapes for visitors each year. In 2018, the Maryland Park Service managed 75 State Parks on 140,761 acres of land. More than 13.4 million visitors enjoyed adventures exploring history, hiking, biking trails or horseback riding on trails, canoeing or kayaking in our lakes, rivers and the Chesapeake Bay, swimming in our beach Parks and attending nature-based staff led programs.
