Reverend Everett Landon | Owner & Manager, Experience Smith Island LLCCaptain Everett Landon and his wife, Carole Ann, both born and raised on Smith Island, have deep roots in the Chesapeake Bay’s history and culture. Married in December of 1994, their love story is as unique as the island itself, with Everett having to date Carole Ann by boat, even walking across the frozen waters of Smith Island during a harsh winter freeze to see her. Together, they have raised three children and now cherish their two grandchildren. Everett has been a minister for 20 years, with 14 of those spent as a senior pastor on the Eastern Shore and six as the senior pastor on Smith Island. Their ancestors have lived on Tangier and Smith Island for over six generations, but it wasn’t until later in life that both Everett and Carole Ann realized the significance of the heritage they had grown up with. Everett and Carole Ann now run Experience Smith Island, offering immersive tours that allow visitors to experience the island's unique culture and lifestyle. With Everett’s background as a waterman and a minister and Carole Ann’s years spent as a waterman’s daughter, a waterman’s wife, and her supportive role in the ministry, they bring authenticity and passion to their work, sharing stories of island life, history, and faith. Today, they are dedicated to preserving and passing on the story of Smith Island to those who visit. |
