Jeff Simcoe | Executive Director, Frostburg Outdoor Recreation Economy InstituteFrostburg State University, Maryland’s westernmost comprehensive university, has created the Frostburg Outdoor Recreation Economy Institute (FOREI) to propel the regions outdoor recreation industry by providing research, education, and training programs for workers, business owners, and policymakers. Simcoe is FOREI’s first executive director and joins the team with decades-long experience in the outdoor recreation and business development arena. He brings to the role a breadth of outdoor-oriented expertise that will enable FOREI to flourish. His most recent position was with the state’s Department of Natural Resources where he focused on the planning and development of sustainable recreation infrastructure on public lands. Simcoe earned his M.S. degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from West Virginia University. His career spans both the public and private sector with natural resource management and outdoor recreation being a consistent focus area. Simcoe currently resides in Garrett County, near Deep Creek Lake, with his wife and two dogs. |
