Telescopic Sights
for Use During Muzzleloader Season
are now Legal in all Regions of the State
Two years ago DNR proposed the statewide legalization of telescopic sights for use during the Deer Muzzleloader season. Sportsmen in Deer Management Region A did not enthusiastically support this proposal. Although telescopes were legalized for the other three deer management regions, they remained prohibited in Deer Management Region A.
Since 1998 DNR has been contacted by numerous sportsman that have requested that DNR revisit this issue. In March 2000, DNR proposed that telescopic sights be legalized for both the early and late segments of the Deer Muzzleloader season in Deer Management Region A. This proposal was enthusiastically supported by sportsmen in Region A. Beginning with the hunting license year 2000-2001, telescopic sights on muzzleloaders will be legal throughout the state.
