DNR often gets requests for information for a named stream. Sometimes we cannot answer the question because the person asking gave us only the name of the stream.

According to the USGS Geographic Names Information System ( http://geonames.usgs.gov/gnishome.html ) there are:

• 2 Wicomico Rivers (and 1 Wicomico Creek) in Maryland
• 7 Maryland streams are known as Rock Creek
• Bear has 5 Creeks and 5 Branches
• 6 streams have some variant of Hunting Creek
• 6 streams are known as Fishing Creek
