Re: Appointment of Bruce Michael as RAS Director
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Michael as Director of DNR’s
Resource Assessment Service.
Most of you know Bruce, who came to DNR in 1995 after 10 years with the
Department of the Environment. Bruce’s professional experience and educational
background make him uniquely qualified to direct this mission-critical team,
filling the vacancy left by Dave Goshorn’s move to the Office of Sustainable
Futures.
Having been involved in various capacities related to the State’s Chesapeake Bay
Monitoring Program almost since inception, he has acquired the knowledge and
experience to fully manage and coordinate the department’s the environmental
monitoring programs including: evaluating new monitoring technologies, sampling
design, water quality measurement methods and techniques, and laboratory
analyses of pollution reduction strategy results.
Bruce holds a Master of Business Administration (1994) and a Masters of Science
Environmental Biology (1981) from Hood College, and a Bachelor of Science degree
in Zoology; North Carolina State University (1976).
Please join me in welcoming Bruce to this important new role.
John
