Charlie Evans Retiring
I am writing to advise you that DNR Assistant Secretary Charles C.G. Evans, Jr. is retiring from State Service, effective Friday, May 4.
A skilled negotiator and experienced development manager, Charlie has made a number of truly impressive contributions to the State of Maryland and its citizens since joining DNR in June of 2003.
During his tenure, Charlie worked diligently to enhance the department’s financial resources through corporate sponsorships, private donations and federal funding opportunities.
Among his many accomplishments, Charlie played an integral role in creating the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund, was instrumental in the development of the Corsica River Targeted Watershed effort, led the state’s effort to establish a regional bay funding authority, successfully negotiated a resolution to the controversial Blackwater development in Dorchester County, and was largely responsible for strengthening our agency’s partnerships with the environmental community over the past four years.
Although he is leaving our ranks, we can look forward to working with Charlie in the future as he returns to the private sector to concentrate on environmentally friendly development projects on the Eastern Shore and in Western Maryland.
Please join me in congratulating Charlie and wishing him all the best!
John
