Stephan Abel

It is with mixed feelings that I announce the impending departure of Stephan Abel, DNR’s Director of Communications and Marketing. Although I have not had the opportunity to work with Stephan as many of you have, his reputation for excellence has become well known to me in short order; his departure will clearly be a loss to our communications office and our agency.

The good news, however, is that he will not be going far: This week Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) Chairman Torrey Brown will announce the selection of Stephan as ORP’s new Executive Director. This represents an exciting career opportunity for Stephan. While our loss is clearly their gain, I am very hopeful that under the leadership of Stephan (and Torrey!) we will be able to expand upon our long-standing partnership with ORP, and thus our efforts to restore on of the Bay’s most important living resources.

Please join me in wishing Stephan great success!

Darlene Pisani, OCM’s current deputy, will serve as acting director until Stephan’s position is filled.
