From the Secretary Home
Maryland Department of Natural Resources
New NRP Superintendent

I am pleased to announce the appointment of George F. Johnson, IV, as superintendent of the Maryland Natural Resources Police, effective immediately.

A veteran law enforcement officer and manager, George brings a wealth of experience and a life-long commitment to natural resources conservation to this post. He is well-respected in the law enforcement community, having spent 22 years as an Anne Arundel County Police Officer before serving as Anne Arundel County Sheriff from 1994 through 2006.

George will be a terrific addition to DNR, filling a critical role on our leadership team. I know you join me in welcoming him to our ranks, and will do everything possible to help make his transition a smooth one.

George replaces Superintendent Steve Chaney, who is leaving state service to pursue new career opportunities. Steve departs with our sincere appreciation for a job well done and best wishes for future success.
