The Big Savage Trail is very difficult to navigate/negotiate as a result of ice damage which occured in October and November of 2002. It is unlikely that the trail will be cleared to accommodate hiking in the near future. Volunteer groups are needed to assist in the cleanup process of this trail. Interested individuals should contact Area Manager Mike Gregory by e-mail (mgregory@dnr.state.md.us) or by phone at 301-895-5759 if they are willing to assist in trail cleanup efforts this spring and summer
