The Maryland Park Service's volunteer programs provide many ways for citizens to help with a number of functions. The Maryland Park Service recognizes the benefit that is derived from the time and effort donated by its volunteers. Individuals and groups are encouraged to become part of the statewide network of park volunteers.
You Really Do Make A Difference!
Thousands of volunteers in Maryland's 47 state parks and five state forests donate hundreds of thousands of service each year. Volunteers provide enthusiasm, energy and creativity to the wide variety of tasks they accomplish. Volunteers experience many benefits -- among them companionship, a sense of responsibility and enhanced skills. There is an opportunity for everyone!
Getting Started
- Maryland's state parks and forests offer volunteer options for weekdays and weekends.
- Match your interest with our volunteer opportunities.
- Volunteer in the Helen Avalynne Tawes Garden, or help support garden programs and operations by donating time in the gift shop.
- You can also volunteer with Scales and Tales, an environmental education program that uses live animals native to the state of Maryland, and help educate thousands of school children statewide.
- Join the Volunteer Ranger Program and assist the Department's regular ranger force in state parks and forests with operations, programs and public service.
- Become a volunteer Camp Host and help keep campgrounds clean and in good condition. In return for your generous efforts, you'll receive a free campsite.
