Recent world events have caused us all to step back and re-evaluate our priorities and raise our level of awareness for the safety and welfare of our families and children. The staff of Outdoor Discovery shares these concerns and we are very sensitive to your needs for re-assurance in this time of uncertainty.
It is widely known that our camp setting in Maryland State Forests and Parks lends itself well to a variety of great outdoor recreational and educational activities. However, another very important benefit of our location rests in the level of public safety provided by our well trained, fully commissioned law enforcement officers – our Maryland Natural Resources Police.
While your child is enjoying their outdoor experience through the Outdoor Discovery Camp, they will be watched over and supervised by experienced camp counselors and directors who are in close and routine contact with the park staff. Should there be any need for assistance, whether medical, safety, or security, professional help is just minutes away.
As one of Maryland’s state law enforcement agencies, the Maryland Park Service is kept on the appropriate level of alert as dictated by our state and federal homeland security officials. Should there ever be a need to increase this level or react to a particular threat, our ranger staff will be notified immediately and take appropriate action. Rest assured, the safety of our visitors, including your children participating in Outdoor Discovery, will be our highest priority.
Our campers can look forward to a fun and exciting week of outdoor exploration and learning – indeed, an experience of a lifetime. You, their parents, can be sure that we will do everything within our power to assure their safety and well-being while they are in our care.
