Play Safe in Maryland State Parks
Camp Safe
  • Camp only in designated areas.
  • Build small fires inside of fire rings.
  • Secure foodstuffs and valuables in tamper proof containers.
  • Set up tents away from camp fires.

Hike Safe

  • Plan ahead, prepare and tell someone where you're going.
  • Wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes.
  • Stay on the trail. If you get lost - don't leave the trail.
  • Carry a first aid kit and bottled water.
Wildlife Safe
  • Keep a clean camp - secure food properly.
  • Do not feed wildlife.
  • Report aggressive wildlife to a ranger.
  • If bitten or scratched by a wild animal, seek medical attention.
Bike Safe
  • Wear a helmet which fits properly.
  • Protect the environment - avoid riding wet trails.
  • Control your speed and yield to all other trail users.
