|
The Choptank River Fishing Piers are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The piers are lighted, and the pier is popular because of the variety of fish that can be caught including perch, striped bass, hard heads, sea trout, and catfish. The pier is lighted for night fishing and the Dorchester County side of the pier is open and lighted year round. The pier adjoins Sailwinds Park via the walkway under the bridge.Fishing and crabbing are the main attractions but other activities such as bicycling, walking, jogging, picnicking or sunbathing can be enjoyed.
The Talbot County side offers 25 acres of land extending upriver from the pier and there is a walking path along the Choptank River and Bolingbroke Creek. While the area offers a variety of wildlife, the piers also are an excellent observation area for birds such as osprey and Canada geese.
A service charge is applicable through an honor system.
