Patapsco Valley State Park - Pickall Area

Pavilon 702 at the Pickall area of Patapsco Valley State Park

Are you planning a huge family reunion or a corporate picnic? The Pickall area of Patapsco is just the place for these large events. This area is open for reservation holders only from Mid-May to Mid-September on weekends. Large picnic shelters are found throughout this area, along with two playgrounds, basketball court, and lots of open play fields. Each of these large shelters has grills, and some shelters have fire places.

If your guests wish an opportunity to fish or swim in the river, you are a short drive to Old Frederick Road which provides parking adjacent to where the Bridge crosses the river. The Alberton Road parking area is also only a short drive from Pickall and perfect for a leisurely hike or bike ride along the river. Shelters in this area are set up to hold 125 to 200 guests, with a couple of shelters immediately adjacent to each other allowing for parties up to 400 people.
