The North Point State Park Volunteers offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to those who are interested in helping out. Volunteer opportunities at North Point include becoming a volunteer ranger, trail maintenance, visitor center aide and special event support at some of the annual signature events such as the Earth Day Cleanup, Easter Egg hunt, Fishing Derby and Santa's Workshop.
Please call the park at 410-477-0757, send an email to email@example.com or visit the volunteer web site http://northpointstatepark.net for more information on our annual events and to stay updated on other volunteer opportunities!
Want to help out and have fun at the same time? The North Point State Park Volunteers host several signature events throughout the year. Many of these events require extra help due to their popularity. Assistance in fundraising efforts before and during events, help with setup and cleanup are a few things that are needed for all events. Here are a few of our signature events where specific help is needed:
Assist the park rangers with day to day and long term operational responsibilities including, vehicle and foot patrols, general park maintenance, visitor services, interpretive programs and special events. Volunteer rangers must be 18 years of age. Training is provided; 40 hours of service mandatory before training in the spring. 100 hours of service required per year.
If you like to hike, consider volunteering to help maintain the trails in the park. We need volunteers on a regular basis to walk or bike (where permitted) the trails and look for problem areas that need attention, assist with the correction of these problems, pick up trash and lop back brush that is hanging over the trails. Suggested hours: 2-4 hours per week.
Do you enjoy interacting with people face-to-face? Consider helping out at our visitor center. Answer the phones, provide information, greet visitors and perform general office tasks. Assist rangers and maintenance staff in day to day park clerical duties, data entry or other computer work. Our visitor center is open Memorial Day to Labor Day, Wednesday- Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Suggested hours: 5 hours per week.
Help recruit more volunteers! Make fliers to distribute to park visitors or simply ask our visitors if they are interested in volunteering! Explain what programs the volunteers host and what they have done to help out North Point in the past. Suggested hours: 2-4 hours per week.
Do you feel you can benefit the park by volunteering in a way that is not listed? Positions may be added as the need for volunteers increases over time. If you want to help out in a way that is not listed, please contact the park via phone at 410-477-0757, stop by the North Point State Park Visitor Center and tell us what you would like to do to help out, or contact North Point State Park Volunteers Inc., President: Toni Quaty at firstname.lastname@example.org.
