​​Volunteer Opportunities

Trail work at Patuxent River State ParkPatuxent River State Park is in the process of developing and improving so that it may reach its full potential for its visitors. There is a lot of work to do and a lot of ground to cover, and we need your help to do it. The park is looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles throughout the park. With a dedicated base of volunteers, we can accomplish our goal of making Patuxent River State Park cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for all.

Giving back to the community and completing volunteer hours can be an arduous task. But if you are an outdoorsy type and interested in conservation, then volunteering at a state park is a great way to enjoy yourself while doing important work. There’s something for everyone here; the park is open to all types of users, like hikers, bikers, hunters, etc, and all can find a way to give back.

Trail work at Patuxent River State ParkWe have a number of opportunities for interested volunteers here at Patuxent, including trash cleanups, invasive species control, Volunteer rangers and naturalists, gardening, trail wardens, citizen science, trail work and area monitoring. The park is also a great place for groups to volunteer. The hours you work with us will count for the park as well as any organization you are affiliated with. You can also fulfill community service requirements or required hours for school.
