Location Susquehanna State Park, Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Trail, three miles north of Havre de Grace, 410-557-7994
Trail Access Start at Fisherman's Park at the Conowingo Dam. From Route 1 north, turn right on Shuresville Road and left on Shures Landing Road. Access is also available at the Deer Creek picnic area off Stafford Road in the park. To reach Stafford Road from I-95, drive north on 155, turn right on Lapidum Road and left on Stafford Road.

Potable Water Carry in your own water. Water and restrooms are available at Fishermen's Park.
Natural Features A great variety of neotropical migrants can be seen on this floodplain trail that follows the Susquehanna River. Waterfowl, gulls, shorebirds, and numerous raptors (birds of prey) nest and feed near Conowingo Dam. A bald eagle pair has nested in the area for several years.
The Greenway Trail is known for its abundance of spring wildflowers including arrowhead, pussy toes, mayapple, trout lilies, Virginia bluebells, and trillium species. Numerous ferns and several endangered plant species live in this habitat.
Historic/Cultural Features Trail passes the site of the early Stafford flint furnace. A portion of the furnace is still standing.
Camping Camping available at Susquehanna State Park from May through September. Mini-cabins are also available. Call 1-888-432-2267 for reservations.

Port Deposit, an historic river town, offers restaurants and shops.
Nearby Darlington is a quaint rural town with antique shops.

Service Charges or Permits Camping charge is $15 per night, plus a reservation fee.
Description An 8' wide double track trail with a stone dust base provides a mostly level, easy walk for nature lovers. The floodplain trail provides stunning views of the Susquehanna River Valley and visits wooded wetlands where wildflowers and songbirds thrive. The Conowingo Dam offers a place for raptors, gulls and shorebirds to find easy prey. A great blue heron rookery is found on the Cecil County side of the river and can be seen from the trail. Interpretive signs along the trail provide descriptions of the flora and fauna.
