The Land Acquisition and Planning Unit’s Geographic Information System (GIS) utilizes state of the art mapping software in designing information systems capable of integrating, storing, editing, analyzing, sharing, and displaying geographically-referenced information about DNR lands. In Land Acquisition and Planning, GIS is a tool that allows DNR personnel to create interactive queries, analyze the spatial information, edit data, maps, and present the results of all these operations to make the best land acquisitions and land management strategies possible.
