Military Administrative Leave
As a result of the passage of SB 34 in 2006, the Military Administrative Leave Program has been extended without an end date. This program allows State employees on active military duty on July 1, 2003 or activated on or after July 1, 2003 to use Military Administrative Leave for active military duty, not including active duty training. This allows employees to be paid the difference between the employee’s military salary and the employee’s State salary while on active military duty. To receive this military administrative leave, employees do not have to exhaust their annual, personal & compensatory leave or donate any leave hours to participate. To qualify, the employee must:
Employees will continue to accrue Annual, Personal and Sick leave during their absence. Employees may also receive 15 days of Military leave at full pay each year for Military Training or Active Duty Service. Additionally, employees may continue their State Health Benefits free of charge for the duration of active military duty status. - Be on active military duty on July 1, 2003, or be activated on or after July 1, 2003;
- Be activated for military duty, not military training;
- Provide military orders that contain the employee’s name, dates of activation, and purpose/type of activation;
- Be on Leave Without Pay; and
- Provide military documentation of current military salary.
