            POSITION:                            LIFEGUARD

                                                            Maryland Park Service – Various Parks

                                                            (Seasonal Contractual – No Benefits)

 

            SALARY:                               $7.50 - $12.00/hour (Salary varies by location)

                                                            Full & Part-time Positions Availablele

 

            CLOSING DATE:                 Open Until Filled

 

            CONTRACT PERIOD:        May-September

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

§      Must be certified as a lifeguard by a nationally recognized certifying agency, such as the American Red Cross, YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, of USLA.

§      Must be certified in standard first aid by a nationally recognized certifying agency.

§      Must be certified in CPR and AED by a nationally recognized certifying agency.

§      Must have 20/40 minimum uncorrected vision in each eye (certified by a physician).

§      Must have normal hearing acuity in both ears (certified by a physician).

§      Must be at least 16 years of age.

§      Must pass a physical performance examination which includes swimming 500 meters in flat water in 10 minutes or less, and swimming 25 meters with a rescue tube to       

      an active victim and towing the victim back to shore in a safe and efficient manner.

 

POSTION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§      Recognizing and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies.

§      Enforcing facility policies, rules, and regulations.

§      Preventing injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.

§      Inspecting the facility and equipment daily, and reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.

§      Completing required reports.

§      Participating in daily physical and skills training.

§      Completing additional duties as assigned.
