Integration with Other Efforts

As the Strategic Forest Lands Assessment evolves additional opportunities for utilizing its results will emerge.  Similarly, several existing initiates and landscape assessment efforts will ultimately advise and improve the SFLA process.  Some of these efforts include the following:

Mid-Atlantic Gap Analysis Project (GAP)

Forest Inventory and Analysis Program

Continuous Forest Inventory

Maryland’s Surf Your Watershed - Surf Your Watershed provides a framework to “catalog” important environmental, socioeconomic, and programmatic information on a watershed basis using data from multiple sources.  Managed by the Maryland Department of  Natural Resources (DNR), the goal of the project is to develop a comprehensive watershed database in which anyone with internet access can easily obtain natural resources and biological information (including hydrologic, hydraulic, forestry and water quality); bibliographic references; and contacts, programs and activity descriptions.
