My First Fishing Trip: What do I need to go fishing?
You will need a fishing license if you are 16 or
over.
Information about Maryland fishing
licenses.
There are two types of licenses. One is for
fishing in freshwater (non-tidal) and the other is for saltwater (tidal). If you
know where you will be fishing use the tidal/non-tidal dividing
lines, or ask at a local tackle shop that sells fishing licenses.
Learn to Fish
If you would like to take a class you can visit Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs,
but if you want to learn how to fish and discover other exciting outdoor activities go to Outdoor Discovery Summer Camps. Classes are also offered at
State Parks, so there are plenty of opportunities based upon the amount of time
you have available and your interests.
Fishing Equipment and Terminology
From rods to reels to types of baits and lures, you can find information at
Fishing Terminology. If you still have questions, stop by your
local tackle shop and they can help you.
