OCTOBER 10, 2001 MEETING SUMMARY

Apprenticehip Program- Dianne Samuels reviewed the program's statistics and attrition rate. The effect of TFL conversions (3 licenses upgraded into a TFL) on the cap was discussed. The Commission agreed that the TFL cap should be raised and the caps on the associated licenses should be lowered when a conversion takes place.

Oysters- The Commission asked the Department to look into how to assign an oyster license to a boat.

Striped Bass- Discussed weekly landing limit and current harvest numbers. Discussed gill net options and options for 2002 season.

Crabs- A presentation was given by Phil Jones on possible management options for the 2002 crabbing season.
