DELINEATIONS OF SUBMERGED AQUATIC VEGETATION (SAV) FOR WORCESTER COUNTY

The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announces amended delineations of the submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) beds in Worcester County. These amended delineated areas are protected and closed effective 12:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2006 to the use of hydraulic clam dredges under Section 4-1006.1 of the Natural Resources Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. Under the provisions of this legislation, DNR is required to delineate existing SAV beds in the waters of the State.
    Amended delineations are effective in the following areas:

Parker Bay:

All of the waters of Parker Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near the north side of Purnell Point, defined by Lat. 38° 01.960' N and Long. 75° 21.443' W; then running northwesterly along the shore to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 02.157' N and Long. 75° 21.793' W; then running approximately 29° True to a point at or near the shore, defined by Lat. 38° 02.169' N and Long. 75° 21.785' W; then running northerly along the shore to a point at or near the north side of Georges Island Landing, defined by Lat. 38° 02.487' N and Long. 75° 21.684' W; then running approximately 34° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 03.024' N and Long. 75° 21.220' W; then running approximately 59° True to a point at or near the northwest tip of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 03.223' N and Long. 75° 20.799' W; then running easterly along the shore of Mills Island to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 03.236' N and Long. 75° 20.630' W; then running approximately 115° True to a point at or near the west shore of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 03.226' N and Long. 75° 20.603' W; then running southwesterly along the west shore of Mills Island to a point at or near the southwest tip of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 02.228' N and Long. 75° 21.337' W; then running approximately 197° True to the point of beginning.

Mills Island East:

All of the waters of Chincoteague Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near the shore of a cove on the east side of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 02.713' N and Long. 75° 19.987' W; then running approximately 41° True to a point at or near the shore of a cove on the east side of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 02.998' N and Long. 75° 19.670' W; then running southwesterly along the shore of Mills Island to the point of beginning.

Mills Island North:

All of the waters of Johnson Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near the shore of a cove on the north side of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 03.212' N and Long. 75° 20.589' W; then running approximately 91° True to a point at or near the shore of a cove on the north side of Mills Island, defined by Lat. 38° 03.206' N and Long. 75° 19.742' W; then running westerly along the shore of Mills Island to the point of beginning.

South of Tizzard Island:

All of the waters of Johnson Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point, defined by Lat. 38° 04.196' N and Long. 75° 19.748' W; then running approximately 294° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 04.514' N and Long. 75° 20.662' W; then running approximately 34° True to a point at or near the south shore of Tizzard Island, defined by Lat. 38° 04.609' N and Long. 75° 20.582' W; then running southeasterly along the shore of Tizzard Island to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 04.302' N and Long. 75° 19.695' W; then running approximately 201° True to the point of beginning.

Rowley Bay:

All of the waters of Rowley Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point, defined by Lat. 38°04.954' N and Long. 75° 20.991' W; then running approximately 347° True to a point at or near the shore, defined by Lat. 38° 05.008' N and Long. 75° 21.007' W; then running easterly along the shore to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 05.145' N and Long. 75° 20.736' W; then running approximately 126° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 05.091' N and Long. 75° 20.644' W; then running approximately 213° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 04.975' N and Long. 75° 20.740' W; then running approximately 264° True to the point of beginning.

Assateague Island South:

Sinepuxent Neck South:

All of the waters of Sinepuxent Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near the shore at Sandy Point, defined by Lat. 38° 14.807' N and Long. 75° 09.103' W; then running approximately 24° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 15.126' N and Long. 75° 08.919' W; then running approximately 343° True to a point at or near the shore of Lower Sinepuxent Neck, defined by Lat. 38° 15.647' N and Long. 75° 09.117' W; then running southerly along the shore to the point of beginning.

Sinepuxent Neck North:

All of the waters of Sinepuxent Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point at or near the shore at Sandy Cove, defined by Lat. 38° 15.773' N and Long. 75° 08.941' W; then running approximately 69° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 15.941' N and Long. 75° 08.402' W; then running approximately 16° True to a point at or near the shore at Grays Point, defined by Lat. 38° 16.576' N and Long. 75° 08.171' W; then running southerly along the shore to the point of beginning.

Assateague Island North:

Horse Island:

All of the waters of Assawoman Bay enclosed by a line beginning at a point, defined by Lat. 38° 25.160' N and Long. 75° 04.639' W; then running approximately 360° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 25.342' N and Long. 75° 04.639' W; then running approximately 90° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 25.342' N and Long. 75° 04.417' W; then running approximately 180° True to a point, defined by Lat. 38° 25.160' N and Long. 75° 04.417' W; then running approximately 270° True to the point of beginning.

Areas closed by Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) for health reasons and areas closed pursuant to other statutory or regulatory authority remain closed.
