Upon the recommendation of the Tidal Fisheries Advisory Commission in 2001, the Department promulgated regulations to require that male crabs used as an attractant in peeler pots be of legal size and not have the claws removed (COMAR 08.02.03.07). The Department, by the publication and distribution of this notice, is reminding participants engaged in this fishery of the current regulation, which has not changed. The Department expects that the participants engaged in this activity adhere to the regulations as originally promulgated.
